This tryptch is painted on wood panel, inspired by walks around Bass Lake, watching the geese swim and dive amongst the waterlilies.

This is my 36" x 36" entry to a juried show entitled "Memory of Appalachia"...my version of a painted quilt.

Written in the top circle is a poem by Wendell Berry:
"What We Need is Here"

"Geese appear high over us,
pass, and the sky closes. Abandon,
as in love or sleep, holds
them to their way, clear
in the ancient faith: what we need
is here. And we pray, not
for new earth or heaven, but to be
quiet in heart, and in eye, clear. What we need is here."

Travelling Postcard Show
