"What We Need is Here"

This is my 36" x 36" entry to a juried show entitled "Memory of Appalachia"...my version of a painted quilt.

Written in the top circle is a poem by Wendell Berry:
"What We Need is Here"

"Geese appear high over us,
pass, and the sky closes. Abandon,
as in love or sleep, holds
them to their way, clear
in the ancient faith: what we need
is here. And we pray, not
for new earth or heaven, but to be
quiet in heart, and in eye, clear. What we need is here."

Cheers,
Susan

This is a true masterpiece-a blend of my fav's-Wendell Berry's-and this painting is true bliss and contentment with the serenity of the birds, the change of seasons in the trees, a touch of passing water, Gracie pup, the trinity cows-it says it all. Thank you for such beauty...xox, H
